Created entirely using a circuit bent Casio MT-240 (R.I.P. destroyed by Fire)
Composed as part of a collaboration with my wife, Mona Jean Cedar. Perfomed at the 2003 Burning Man Festival. Created entirely from a recording of an unmated male mockingbird singing all night long in our back yard. (This is what they do during mating season until they find a mate). The recordings are heavily manipulated. As it turns out, this was a very prophetic piece; it has a Phoenix-based theme (fire and rebirth/rising from the ashes). It was performed in the ashes of the Burning Man, followed by Mona dancing 300 yards to the Phoenix Temple. 14 months later, our house, which Mona had purchased with her ex-husband, burned. That marriage ended painfully, with residual negative energy left in its wake. The fire, as devastating as it was for us, and requiring the house to be completely gutted, has come to represent a cleansing and rebuilding for us. We have spent the last year recreating the house from the inside out, and it has been an amazing experience to be able to create something that is truly our own. Mona and I married on July 17, 2005.
